PROBLEM STATEMENT
For many acedemis institution expecially school , student discipline was given a primary importance in education management. It represents by school management as central importance to conduct student disipline using good system. The school rules and regulations are prepared with the cooperation of the school disciplinary board and the parent-teacher-association. They are based on the guidelines given by the Ministry of Education.
With reference to the BERNAMA article, with the dateline February 13, 2013 and headlined Sarawak School Shows The Better Way. Based on the article the successful enhance after using an integrated and systematic discipline system called the "Merit and Demerit Discipline System" (MDDS). Furthermore, Underpinning the system are the various players responsible for moulding or shaping the character of the students, namely, the school administrators, teachers, prefects, class monitors, parents and counselors. Based with priciple said is deliberate and structured to optimise paradigm shift in student behaviour.
By promoting a new approach to enhance the standard of discipline further, the school has decided to use E-Discipline a merit-demerit points system developed by the Ministry of Education to manage discipline in the school. The present merit-demerit system that the school has been using all these years is just a simple manual + Ms Excel system. The present merit-demerit points have been modified to reflect the government’s system.
The school endeavours to list the accumulated demerit points of every student at least once a month. Students can then check with the teachers the offences they have committed and how they can off-set these demerit points, for e.g. undertaking goodwill tasks like clearing the storeroom or cleaning the windows.
